On November 29th, the closing ceremony of the 11th Gansu International Fellowship Program was held in Lanzhou. 26 delegates from 18 countries, namely the United States, New Zealand, Mexico, Uruguay, Namibia, Nepal, Switzerland, Serbia, Israel, Canada, Pakistan, South Korea, Indonesia, Belarus, Moldova, Zimbabwe, Malaysia and China attended the closing ceremony dressed up. The Vice-Governor of Gansu Province Mr. Xia Hongming made a speech and awarded graduation certificates to the delegates. Secretary of CPC Committee Gansu Foreign Affairs Office Committee, Director-general of GFAO Mr. Wang Daixi hosted the ceremony.
On behalf of Gansu Provincial Government, Mr. Xia Hongming extended congratulations to all delegates for their successful completion of the training and conveyed gratitude to all the institutes, working staffs, experts and scholars contributed to the successful launching of the program. He said that this year’s program made a lot of reforms and innovations in curriculum setting and teaching form; we organized field trips for delegates to visit related cities and prefectures, companies, cultural and educational institutes, held communication forums and promoted the cooperation intention between delegates and related departments and companies of Gansu, fulfilling the goal of the program.
The successful holding of the program further strengthens the ties between Gansu Province and other countries in the world, deepens the sister city governments and people’s understanding of Gansu, intensifies the friendship between Gansu and its international sister cities, promotes their cooperation and exchanges, contributing greatly to the overall national diplomacy and public diplomacy. Therefore, we hope that all the delegates can continue to be the ambassadors of peace, bridges of friendship after returning home, deepen their understanding of and friendship with Gansu province, expand breadth and deepen depth of exchanges and cooperation to realize common development, mutual benefit and co-win.
The government officials Cheng Jieke from Christchurch of New Zealand made speech on behalf of all the delegates. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to Gansu for providing such a great platform of stepping into Gansu and China. It is their privilege to publicize Gansu and China to contribute to the cooperation and friendly exchanges between these two sides with all their endeavor after returning home.
In one month’s time, the delegates listened to the special lectures themed on economic and social development of Gansu and China, science and technology, education, medical treatment, culture, tourism and other aspects; conducted field trip in Jiayuguan, Tianshui, Dingxi, Dunhuang and other cities; visited companies, rural areas, cultural, scientific and researching institutions; held conferences with heads of related companies and government departments, realizing the goal of promoting mutual understanding, deepening friendsh
